Concept: Worlding

The idea of “worlding” emerges from work in science and technology studies (STS), as well as my own field of anthropology, to describe how people generate the social and cultural worlds in which they participate and interact. Worlding, according to scholars such as Donna Haraway, is about ways of being in the world, in everyday, often minute interactions with other people, objects, and ideas. Through worlding, we all participate, albeit in different ways, in producing our shared worlds, both imaginatively, symbolically, interactionally, and materially.

L’idée de “Worlding” émerge de travail dans les études scientifiques et technologiques (STS), ainsi que mon propre champ de l’anthropologie, de décrire la façon dont les individus créent les mondes sociaux et culturels auxquels ils participent et interagissent. Worlding, selon les érudits tels que Donna Haraway, est sur les moyens d’être au monde, au quotidien, souvent infimes interactions avec d’autres personnes, des objets et des idées. Grâce Worlding, nous participons tous, quoique de manières différentes, dans la production de nos mondes partagés, à la fois imaginative, symboliquement, interactionnelle, et matériellement.
